Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The study looks interesting and the experimental/analysis part is quite complete/extensive.

This paper can be published in the present form.

Author Response

The Authors would like to thank the Distinguished Reviewer for the precious appreciation of the presented manuscript.

Reviewer 2 Report

The paper shows an interesting investigation of the behavior of friction isolation system in a building subjected to multiple earthquake events.

Some spelling needs to be checked.

Introduction would benefit from an extended state of the art review of previous work in this field.

Authors state that the response of the superstructure is bound to be within the elastic range. How are they certain of that?

A more detailed explanation (both written and graphical/photo) should be given about the experimental simulations set-up.

It is also recommended that the displacements of the top of the structure are given for each event, and also for the unisolated structure.

2.Case Study Structure: To describe more basics of building is it a Reinforced Concrete Building (Concrete Grade) or Steel Building (Steel Grade). Value of Imposed Load and Dead Load

Figure 1. Can you indicate the global axis Y and X which I believe you are input the direction of seismic events

Figure 2. Can express Y-axis in term of base shear / building weight and X-axis in terms of overall drift

Figure 5. Text mentions 3D FEM but Figure 5 only shows an equivalent SDOF system. Can Authors show the 3D FEM and indicate the software used e.g. ANSYS/ABAQUS etc?

Figure 8 to 10, allow intervals of 0.025

Figure 13, allow interval of 5% for Y axis. Displ to be full "Displacement"

Figure 14, allow interval of 2.5%
