Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The manuscript reviewed the aphid behaviours and factors affecting plant virus spread. The authors discussed the aphid activity, transmission efficiency, life history traits and other factors in plant-insect-phytovirus system. The manuscript is quite interesting. I just have two minor comments.

1) the virus name should follow the new rule. e.g. it should be cucumber mosaic virus, not Cucumber Mosaic Virus;

2)  line 57, revise his to its.

Author Response

Dear Professor,

We revised the virus nomenclature according to the current ICTV recommendations and incorporated your revision on line 57.

Thank you very much for your appreciation and suggestions.

Reviewer 2 Report

Line 38: Authors should be specific. Greater than or less than can be used instead.

Line 75: Vectorial? Change this prase.

Lines 101-102: Incomplete citation!

Author Response

Dear Professor,

Line 38: We have specified the number of aphid-borne viruses as listed in the reference cited in the second degree.

Line 75: We have corrected the sentence by changing "vectorial" to "vector" because it refers to "vector transmission efficiency".

Finally, we have completed the reference 11.

Thank you very much for your appreciation and suggestions.

Reviewer 3 Report

The review provides interesting information about the factors that influencing aphid-plant-phytovirus interactions. The manuscript does provide some useful information that will be helpful in developing IPM practices and provides fodder for additional experiences.
A few points:
Ls.21-22: Keywords should be in alphabetic order. Also, keywords serve to widen the opportunity to be retrieved from a database. To put words that already are into title and abstracts makes KW not useful. Please choose terms that are neither in the title nor in abstract.

L.143: … (PLRV) infection-induced changes…
L.160: Change “odor” by “odour”

L.230: … sustained phloem-feeding, aphids…

L.395: potein? Or protein?
L.519: Change “folllowing” by “following”
L.557: Change “sulfoxaflo” by “sulfoxaflor”

Author Response

Dear Professor,

We have changed the keywords and organised them in alphabetical order. All minor corrections and typing errors that you have indicated have been corrected and integrated into the current version.

Thank you very much for your appreciation and suggestions.
