Dear authors,

·     I suggest the modification in title as “Impact of drought and groundwater quality on agriculture in a semi-arid zone of Mexico”.

·       The abstract is not clear. The rational statement in abstract should be added at start. Add more description about methodology (sampling, data collection, analysis techniques etc.) and results, then, present your conclusions and recommendations (if any).  Please re-write whole abstract.

·       More technical world could be added in key words.

·       The introduction section is again not written well. There is transitional gap present between paragraphs of whole section and lack in clarity in hypothesis and results. In this study, the authors must improve the statements about what is new in their study and what are the contributions to the developments of agriculture.

·       The description of Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) is missing in methodology section.

·       In Results section: the representation of results could be improved by adopting some advanced techniques. The discussion needs to be improved by more citations.

·       The conclusions section needs to be rewrite according to objectives of the study. Moreover, summarize your conclusions to be more accurate.

·       Good Luck.

Round 2

Reviewer 2 Report

Dear Authors,

Most of comments have not been addressed in true spirit as I did not see a significant work to address the comments. However, the authors improved the manuscript to some extent therefore, I put the manuscript under "Minor revisions" and suggest authors to reconsider my previous comments in detail for further improvement towards manuscript maturity

Good Luck
