Inoculation with Potassium Solubilizing Bacteria and Its Effect on the Medicinal Characteristics of Paris polyphylla var. yunnanensis
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
Major revisions are required for the publication of this manuscript entitled “Effects of Inoculation with Potassium-solubilizing Bacteria on Contents in Different Forms of Soil Potassium and Medicinal Qualities of Paris polyphylla var. yunnanensis.”. This study is interesting but corrections are required for publication.
1. Please mention the stain number of bacteria used in this study if any??
2. Please include the NCBI accession number of bacteria used in this study.
3. Please include some recent information in introduction section related to the effect of microbes like NPK solubilizers, mechanism and their effect on plant growth, productivity and soil health. Authors may consider these works: https://doi.org/10.1007/s13205-020-02448-2, https://doi.org/10.1007/s13205-020-02561-2
4. Line 68-69. The objective of the study was to determine the ability of KSB to enhance the growth of P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis plants. But authors did not describe the effect of bacterial isolates on plant growth. Please include information on plant health parameters.
5. Please provide details about the soil field where the soil samples were taken.
6. Which ANOVA have been used in this study (one/two?). Mention it in statistical analysis.
7. Please include the pots pictures.
8. Improve the discussion section with latest references. Importance of microbes for plant growth and soil nutrient status.
9. Please improve the conclusion part.
10. Reference pattern should be in same format. Please correct.

Reviewer 2 Report
The manuscript entitled ‘Effects of Inoculation with Potassium-solubilizing Bacteria on Contents in Different Forms of Soil Potassium and Medicinal Qualities of Paris polyphylla var. yunnanensis’ is of great interest for crop growing community. Although the manuscript contains good information but there are many flaws that must be addressed and fulfilled for the validation of study and output.
Abstract
Abstract lacks the study background and importance of topic.
Line 14-17: too lengthy, rephrase.
Line 18-22: Not clear.
Introduction
Introduction is too short. Improve this section with citation of recent studies through scientific and logical approaches.
Material and methods
This section is managed very efficiently.
Result
Line 154-157: Too lengthy.
In results, write the exact treatment that makes the understanding easy as compared to short name. This suggestion may be followed throughout the Result section. Write up needs improvement. It may be more understandable to concentrate the significant results only.
Discussion
Improve the discussion with scientific approach and latest references. It looks too short.
Conclusion
Conclusion must be short, specific and quantified. Conclusion is too lengthy. Make it brief and concise.
Reference
The authors need to work on the reference list according to the journal style and cross matching.
Throughout the manuscript, language improvement looks necessary.
Figures quality is not good. It may be improved.

The title should be improved, because it is not well understood, suggestion: Inoculation with potassium solubilizing bacteria and its effect on the medicinal characteristics of Paris polyphylla var. yunnanensis
Why not inoculate a low concentration and a high concentration of potassium solubilizing bacteria, because 1x106, if considered inoculating in soil, due to the native microbiota that exists?
How do the availability of potassium correlate with the higher production of metabolites with the biological activity of the medicinal plant?
They should explain in a table directly the content of the metabolites with the treatments of the solubilizing bacteria, the negative control and positive control as this plant is traditionally produced.
The effect of solubilizing bacteria is interesting, however the relationship that exists with the production of metabolites is not adequately presented for a better understanding.
