Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This paper proposes an inverted-fin shaped model-hole structure. Using EDEM simulation technology, the motion of seed particles in a wheat-type hole wheel variable seed metering device during the filling process is numerically simulated. The effects of hole wheel structure, filling posture, and vibration frequency are investigated, and the simulation results are validated via bench testing. This study has excellent guideline value, and the quality of the paper as a whole is good. The following modifications are suggested to enhance the manuscript:

(1) In this paper, the effect of seed filling posture on seed filling effect was investigated, and a inverted-fin shaped model-hole structure was proposed to improve the seed arranger's seeding performance. Did the author consider the impact of seed filling posture on seed damage? Does the inverted inverted-fin shaped model-hole reduce seed damage?

(2) The research results of this paper can provide a reference for the mechanical seed metering device, but is it possible to add a section of discussion to show the differences and innovations with similar studies?

(3) In the introduction, the author describes the existing research results of others, but the depth of analysis is insufficient; therefore, it is necessary to conduct an in-depth analysis closely related to the paper's research content in order to demonstrate the originality of this paper's research.

(4) The overall writing quality of the paper is good, but there are paragraphs composed of independent sentences that do not form a coherent text (for example, the last paragraph of the introduction). Please check and revise the grammar and sentences of the whole paper.

1. The language expression was not clear and professional enough. There were punctuation errors and grammatical errors.

2 . The working environment of rice sowing is different from that of wheat sowing. Were the vibration parameters of rice sowing collected in this paper suitable for wheat sowing?

3. Whether the effect of the interaction between seeds on the posture was considered when multiple seeds were filled.

 4. The influence of vibration frequency on seeding performance were not mentioned in section 3.5.

5. The introduction mentioned the development of a method to measure the seed filling performance of a model-hole wheel seed metering system for wheat, but this method was not mentioned in the conclusion and abstract.

Reviewer 3 Report

1. In this manuscript, the influence of different seed positions on the effect of seed arrangement was investigated. However, as a mechanical seed arrangement device, the author did not mention seed damage rate. What is the effect of this paper's inverted-fin shape model-hole on seeds damage rate? Does it reduce seed breakage?

2. The introduction of the manuscript covers the research results of others, but it does not provide a thorough analysis of the issues that the proposed system seeks to address.

 3. The number of references provided by the author in the article was low; therefore, it is recommended to provide the most recent literature pertinent to this topic.

  4. The overall quality of the paper's writing is satisfactory, however there are a few grammatical problems and imprecise phrasing. Please review and edit the entire document.
