Reviewer 3 Report

agriculture-1948638: This paper is well done and provides the valuable knowledge. However, major revision is needed before publication.

1) Lines 57-61: Using high amount of insecticides and herbicides can also cause the environmental damages, such as increase carbon, nitrogen and water footprints. Please mention about it. Please see this paper.  [Pesticide Use and Associated Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Sugar Beet, Apples, and Viticulture in Austria from 2000 to 2019. Agriculture 2022, 12, 879.]

2) Lines 134-136: How did you get the equation for sample size calculation? Please provide the reference. All parameters must be explained the meaning.  For example, What is “pq”?

3) The reasons for selecting Trans-Nzoia County in Western Kenya as the study area are unclear. Please explain more details.

4) Figure 1 is too small and poor resolution. Please improve. Moreover, “[Source: Researchers, 2022]” should be deleted.

5) Figures 2-6: Y axis needs to show a line, and add the caption. Moreover, the labels that show the values should be presented as Figure 6. It will help the readers when they look at the graphs.

6) Discussion: When you discuss your results with other studies, referencing to your tables or figures will be useful and more understanding.

7) Lines 389-391: Practicing as organic farming system can promote carbon sequestration, and enhance ecosystem services. Please see this paper.  [Carbon footprint and predicting the impact of climate change on carbon sequestration ecosystem services of organic rice farming and conventional rice farming: A case study in Phichit province, Thailand.  Journal of Environmental Management 2021, 289, 112458.].

8) Lines 443-444: “Organic fertilizers also provide energy for active and healthy soil microbial environment [68] that stabilize nutrients and make term available.” This sentence is unclear. How to enhance healthy soil microbial environment from organic fertilizers or organic farming? Perhaps, these paper can help. [2022. Soil Microbial Diversity and Community Composition in Rice–Fish Co-Culture and Rice Monoculture Farming System. Biology 2022. 11(8):1242.] .]   [2021. Soil bacterial community composition in rice–fish integrated farming systems with different planting years. Sci. Rep. 11, 10855.].

9) Policy implication or recommendation for the farmers should be provided by using the findings from this study.

10) I have not seen the information in Appendix B. Please provide them. You may provide as Supplementary Material.
