Comments and Suggestions for Authors

This paper studied the influence of different clutch engagement rules on the shifting characteristics of multi-clutch shifting in power shifting tractor. The manuscript is well-organized and the topic is timely, and it has important research significance. There are several issues that need to be addressed before the manuscript is published.

(1) The dynamic characteristics of engine torque is an important factor affecting tractor gear shifting. The mathematical model and simulation model of the engine built or used should be given.

(2) Is the engine involved in coordinated control during the shift? The simulation results should include the changing process of engine speed torque states.

(3) More relevant references need to be added.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

1: The abstract text should be concise.

2: Unify the language used to describe the three strategies in the control strategy section.

3: Use superscripts for units in Table 2.

4: In the third-to-last row of Table 2, correct "transmission output shaf" to "transmission output shaft."

5: Formula letters are too small and the format is incorrect in lines 132 and 271. It is recommended to re-enter them.

6: In line 281, suggest changing "Transmission output torque" to "transmission output torque" with a lowercase initial letter.

7: There are too many filler words in lines 283-286 and 296-298. It is recommended to reorganize the language.

8: Apply superscripts to units in lines 317 and 351.

9: In line 350, there is an issue with the input "between 6.05s-6.45szhi," suggest changing it to "from 6.05s to 6.45s."

10: In line 130, after the formula for S, add a space, and change "Effective" to "effective" with a lowercase initial letter.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The subject of the manuscript is worthy of interest. However, the manuscript needs a revision, some fundamental evaluations have not been taken into consideration. The work is expected to describe " A shifting performance of tractor multi-clutch under different engagement rules”. From my point of view, it is not clear what performances needs to be improved in order to establish that one rule is better than another.

The part of the abstract related to the results is chaotic and more details are needed.

In the introduction it is written that a YTO TX4A transmission was considered but we have no other information on the characteristics of that.

In general, the paper does not describe the behaviour of the engine and it is not clear whether it is maintained at a constant angular speed. It would appear that the Power output is different between gear II and gear III.

In addition, there are many terms/variables, a nomenclature table is needed. The labels in the graph axes must be checked and corrected where necessary.

There is no discussion about the results.

In the conclusions it is not clear which rule is the best and why.

Abstract:

Lines 21-26: increase understanding of the results because the different three rules are unclear.

Introduction:

Lines 60-42: improve details of the YTO TX4A transmission system.

Structure and Mathematical modelling:

Line 100: explain what TCU is

in the text and in Figures: MPa instead of Mpa.

Combined with process dynamic…:

Table 2: add all parameters units.

Line 318, Figure 8, Line 352, Figure 14, Line 382, Figure 20, Table 3: check the definition of “power”.

Figure 21: words must be in English

Check the behaviour between the gear II and gear III in terms of power transmission taking into account the definition of power as torque per angular velocity. It seems to have two different power performance. When compared with the two-gear configuration, the resistance moment of the wheel was the same but the angular velocity of the wheel was changed. If so, it is better to explain.

Conclusion:

There is no discussion about the results.

What is the value of this research and what are the useful results that can be used in a future study?
