Author Response

  • The main and specific objectives of the paper is clearly outlined: to evaluate the experience of the coffee consumers in the 3 cities (Piura, 10 Trujillo and Chiclayo in Peru and its impact on sustainability.

This study aims to fill this gap by quantitatively exploring the differential effects of perceived quality and brand experiences on consumers’ perceptions of value and loyalty in the context of coffee consumption. Specifically, it focuses on evaluating the experience of coffee consumers in three cities of Peru (Piura, Trujillo, and Chiclayo) and its impact on sustainability.

  • I suggest that the authors should definitively summarize the concepts of sensory experience and affective experience, in relation to loyalty, satisfaction, service and product brands.

The results indicate an indirect relationship between sensory experience and affective experience, with loyalty mediating the effect on satisfaction. However, more evidence is needed on how the sensory and affective components of experience influence attitudes and behavioral outcomes in specific categories such as coffee. This study quantitatively examines these relationships in the context of coffee consumption in Peru, providing new insights for this area of research. Specifically, the study summarizes the concepts of sensory and affective experiences and their impact on loyalty, satisfaction, service, and product brands.

  • Despite acknowledging the limitations of A non-probabilistic convenience sampling technique, also give contextual justification for it.

. A non-probabilistic convenience sample was used for selecting the participants. Although this sampling method does not ensure strict representativeness of the population, it allows for accessible and efficient data collection, especially when employing a widely distributed measurement instrument like Google Forms. This approach was particularly suitable for our study given the logistical constraints and the need to gather a large number of responses in a short period. The sample size, consisting of 1190 respondents, was determined based on the requirements of the structural equation model used in the analysis. This method provided a practical solution to collect extensive data while accommodating the limitations of time and resources.

  • This specific study requires a more rigorous presentation of the ethical steps taken to ensure that the consumer data and participation is as per the required guidelines, other than the presented information on questionnaire dissemination, citations etc.

Regarding ethical considerations, the study strictly adhered to the 7th edition of the APA guidelines for referencing and citation of sources. To ensure the confidentiality and anonymity of the data collected, all participants provided informed consent, and their information was used exclusively for scientific purposes. The data collection process, managed through Google Forms, ensured that privacy and informed consent standards were maintained throughout. Additionally, the research adhered to ethical standards by implementing measures to protect participant privacy and ensure data integrity. These measures included secure data storage, restricted access to sensitive information, and regular ethical reviews to comply with institutional and legal requirements.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The proposal for the journal “Computation” about “Computational modeling of the coffee consumer experience and its impact on the sustainability of the regional industry in Peru: A study using structural equation modeling (SEM)” sounds interesting, focused on one of the main products of the country. Nevertheless, to optimize the final version, you should improve the next questions:

-Title. The meaning is right, but I think if it is possible to improve it. Why? Because the subtitle “study using structural equation modeling (SEM)” doesn’t allow value. It is a method, but the importance, in terms of title, is not the used method (in except of a very strange or innovative method), if not in the results. I recommend to eliminate this part of the title.

-Abstract. It is clearly improvable. The objective of the research is to evaluate the experience of the coffee consumers in Piura, Trujillo and Chiclayo, but the authors must begin with a sentence justifying the social value of this research. It is a too much direct beginning. The explanation of method is also short. In change, results are too much long and detailed. The authors have to reduce it. Conclusion is correct.

-Theoretical framework. It seems right, but check if some references can be updated. There are references from 1988, 2010…

-Methods. The “n” (1190 cases) is right, as the method (structural equation modeling). If it is possible, it can be positive to include in the paper a qualitative source (in-deep interviews, for example).

-Results. They are well expressed. Figures are adequate, although it is possible the eliminate some of these. If the authors add a qualitative source, results can be rebuilt or completed.

-Conclusion and discussion. In general, it is right. The authors can adapt conclusion and discussion if they include the recommended qualitative method.

Author Response

The present investigation was based on a quantitative methodology, favoring the use of numerical measurement techniques and statistical analysis to examine and validate pre-established hypotheses. A non-experimental cross-sectional design was chosen, as described by [38], involving data collection at a single point in time to analyze the relationships between variables without manipulation. The sample size was 1190 respondents, determined according to the requirements of the structural equation model used in the analysis. For data collection, a research instrument consisting of a questionnaire that had been previously validated by [19] was used.

To complement the quantitative data, we conducted in-depth interviews with a subset of participants to gain deeper insights into their personal experiences, perceptions, and attitudes toward coffee consumption in Piura, Trujillo, and Chiclayo. A total of 20 participants were selected for these interviews through purposive sampling, ensuring a diverse representation of demographics and consumer behaviors. The qualitative data obtained from these interviews were analyzed using thematic analysis, which identified recurring themes and patterns that enriched the quantitative findings.
