Comments and Suggestions for Authors

In the manuscript, the author represents: “Effective promotion of micro damping of GO hybrid PU/PF co-polymers grinding wheels on precision machining”. The author needs to answer some issues:

1.    The author needs to double-check the manuscript. Example: letter size, Fig.1A, B… but Fig. 3a, b…, or color in Figure.

2.    The author needs to measure FT-IR spectrum of GO to compare with PU/GO/PF sample.

3.    The author needs to measure TGA tests of GO and PU/PF to compare with PU/GO/PF sample.

4.    What is the condition of TGA test (air or N2)?

5.    The author needs to be consistent in the sample name. PU/GO/PF or GO/PU/PF.

6.    The author needs to determine the degree of cure for PU/GO/PF sample to investigate the cure condition of the material. (time and temperature)

7.    The author needs to double-check the peak of DSC. These peaks are melting or curing peaks. The author needs to show full scale of DSC (-30 to 300 oC).

8.    The bending test is 3-point or 4-point.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

In this study, PU modified PF copolymers were fabricated as the matrix of grinding wheels. GO was also added into the copolymers to improve the tribology performance. The authors investigated the damping characteristics and friction performance of GO hybrid PU/PF copolymers. According to the analysis results, the hybrid material produced in this study exhibited promising damping and friction performance. However, in my opinion, the following corrections should be made in order to publish the manuscript.

1) There are many typos, the article needs to be proofread.

For example,

In line 120, fabracation

In line 395, Illustration

In line 407, fricion

In line 528, CONCLUTION…

Furthermore, almost all figures should be reviewed for typos in the axes: superscripts, font size differences, etc.

2)    Details such as resolution regarding FTIR analysis need to be specified.

3)    It is stated that the images in Figure 8 are before and after friction of the samples. Were the given images before or after friction? Or were they merged?

4)    In the result and discussion section, please compare the frictional performance and damping properties of the hybrid material with those of materials in the literature. In this way, the importance of your work can be better understood.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

This paper describes the influence of damping and friction performance of gliding wheels with GO hybrid PU/PF copolymer on precision machining. While the subject matter of this paper is interesting and important to the readers on precosion machining, there are some unclear explanations.

We recommend that the below points be clarified and revised prior to publication in Coatings.

(1) Line 95: The author describes that 10 wt% PU showed the best mechanical properties, but it would be better to show the trend of properties for each concentration of PU and the respective data.

(2) Line 144: Title of section 3.1 should be 'Fabrication of GO hybrid PU/PF'.

(3) Line 167: In the title of Table 1, the value shown is the temperature of n% weight loss, not the weight loss rate.

(4) Line 275: The legend of the graph in Figure 3(C) should be unified as it differs between Figure 3(a) and Figure 3(b).

(5) Line 399: The explanation of the X-axis of the inset graph in Fig. 7 is covered by the data lines and is difficult to read.

(6) Line 430: No data for corundum particle size of w7; is it a mistake for w5?
