Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

In general, the study is organized well, and the manuscript is well written. But I found some minor issues that should be corrected before publication. Please find the following comments to improve the manuscript:

Line 61: Abbreviation “FDTD” is used before defining it in the main text. Line 116: How did the authors assume the refractive index of microlens as n2 = 1.455? Please state the reason to use this value or cite any appropriate references. Line 137: Please define the coordinate before using “X axis”. Also, the X-axis title is missing in Figure 4 (a-d). Figure 4: What is the unit of simulated intensity shown in Figure 4? Does it mean the magnitude of Poynting vector? Which software did the authors use for their FDTD simulation? The solver should be mentioned in Section 2. Figure 8: Because a screenshot image is used, it is very difficult to see what the authors intend to show here. An exemplary topography image should be clearly shown. Figure 12: It is impossible to see the details shown in the figures. Please magnify each figure.

Author Response

Dear Editor,

The manuscript (ID: 610446 Title: A microlens super-surface film with regular graded circular hole-like subwavelength structures for highly focusing) is a revised version submitted to Coatings. We have revised the manuscript carefully according to the reviewer’s comments.

Reviewer 2 Report

This is excellent work and should be published as soon as the issues with English are corrected.

The title could be improved. The statement "for highly focussing" needs a subject, such as "for highly focussing lenses". Alternatively "for high focussing strength" might be better. The lack of subjects or indefinite articles in most of the sentences is a severe cause for concern. It is essential that someone checks through the English in this in detail. I have uploaded a text highlighting some of these errors.

Figure 2 does not need the ugly legend. Remove and put D = 7um in the text to the figure.

I think it should be Direct Laser Writing, or use of a Direct Write Laser, instead of laser direct writing.
