Reproductive Traits Demonstrate How Well the Mediterranean Stripe-Necked Turtle Mauremys leprosa Can Flourish under Highly Degraded–Polluted Conditions
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
Interesting paper on rather surprising topic. I have attached a few comments on a copy of the manuscript. Most of the wording suggestions I have made just sounded better to me. I do think the phenomenon of the degraded habitat may be attributed to the unusually high organic matter in the water and thus very low oxygen levels which would not impact this "generalist" forager as described. I suggest limiting the "toxic" connotations since no work on traditional toxins (DDT, flourocarbons, hydrocarbons, heavy metals etc) was undertaker.
The statistics and morphometrics are all well done and interesting.
