Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The author discussed energy management HESS based on FBM however following comments need to be addressed before accepting this manuscript:

-Title does not cover the actual name of the system: should be "Hybrid energy storage system"

-Modify for HESS>> Hybrid energy storage (HES) system throughout the paper.

-not sure how? energy management>> EMS, modify appropriately

-What's the meaning of ESS in the abstract, needs to be first defined.

-Section 5: separate the discussion and conclusions part

Author Response

The paper title has been modified to include this.

-Modify for HESS>> Hybrid energy storage (HES) system throughout the paper.

This issue has been addressed.

-not sure how? energy management>> EMS, modify appropriately

EMS stands for Energy Management System

-What's the meaning of ESS in the abstract, needs to be first defined.

Acronyms have been eliminated from the abstract.

-Section 5: separate the discussion and conclusions part

This issue has been addressed.

Refurbish all content

1) Manuscript  26 pags- too long. Rewrite in limit for a paper no review

2) Novelties: are not concentrated in abstract (very short) or at the end of the introduction (details)

3) For a larger audience - try to use simple and clear sentences,

4) Figures - which are originals? and that with specified references you have to ask permission

5) It is very difficult to follow the body text regarding to Filter method: comparison, strength, and weakness points.

6) Programs and software used- seems to be Matlab ?! please specify if it is your contribution or it is software and an original idea.

7) Show clearly the conclusions you reach them

Author Response

1) Manuscript  26 pags- too long. Rewrite in limit for a paper no review

We have tried to reduce a little the paper length but it has been difficult to put this material is a reduced number of pages. Additionally, most of the pages contain figures and plots which in our opinion make the paper more interesting.

2) Novelties: are not concentrated in abstract (very short) or at the end of the introduction (details)

This is a review paper, therefore the novelty and interest lies in the classification that has been made and the presentation of different works in the same format. This allows comparing the different strategies presented in the literature.

3) For a larger audience - try to use simple and clear sentences,

Writting has been reviewed trying to simplify reading

4) Figures - which are originals? and that with specified references you have to ask permission

All figures have drawn by the authors. All simulation results have been obtained by the authors.

5) It is very difficult to follow the body text regarding to Filter method: comparison, strength, and weakness points.

This part has been partially rewritten

6) Programs and software used- seems to be Matlab ?! please specify if it is your contribution or it is software and an original idea.

Yes. all simulations have been performed using MATLAB/SIMULINK.

This will be indicated in the paper.

7) Show clearly the conclusions you reach them

This section has been partially rewritten.

Reviewer 3 Report

Please make performance comparison table for quality judgement such as advantage and disadvantage of proposals based on the FBM for HESS.

Author Response

Please make performance comparison table for quality judgement such as advantage and disadvantage of proposals based on the FBM for HESS.

Following your instructions, the authors have added the table you request.
