This review paper presented the Solid-state transformer (SST) with its advanced control schemes, provide the future directions for research and development, applications, and prospects. Moreover, this review study discusses the assessment and state-of-the-art technology of SST in different applications focusing on configurations, control circuitry, and their drawbacks and benefits. Still some major issues remain to address, which are as follows: 

1. Abstract can be written in more comprehensive manner. Abstract must be in standard form

2. Authors must make a detailed comparative analysis for each operational issue such as voltage conversion and control etc., along with their pros and cons.

3. Authors can also be incorporated the various applications as well as case study where the different techniques are implemented, based on theoretical and practical applications.

4. A more detailed and critical literature review discussion is required for all the categories with their detailed pros and cons.

5. literature related to the actual implemented are required to support the recommendations.

6. Cost challenges should be discussed in the comparative manner with other techniques.

 This paper reviewed the SST technology and its operation and control with the power grid. The critical analysis, information, and evaluation in this review paper would help the power engineers and researchers develop and implement advanced intelligent SST for sustainable energy management in the future power system. It is well-written and informative. The structure of the paper is clear, and the logic is rigorous. This review paper can be accepted.

The value-added proposition of the Solid-State Transformer (SST) is presented and discussed in this paper. The literature review conducted and the summary of top articles, such as Table 2, is quite clear and robust. The authors underscore the notion that SSTs can be utilized in situations where conventional transformers cannot (e.g., to control Distributed Renewable Energy Resources or DRER, Distributed Energy Storage Devices or DESD, etc). The authors also flag some potential pitfalls, such as the potential to induce additional instability that could affect the involved paradigm. The authors posit that SSTs will be able to offer capabilities beyond the traditional transformer, such an enhancement of the quality of electricity. The System Topologies and Other Issues are a bit too truncated (when compared with the other sections). Future work (e.g., the protection of SSTs, the involved communications for SSTs, etc.) is well delineated. There is a sudden line break between lines 42 and 43 that should be adjusted. While some figures, such as Figure 7, are quite crisp, others, such as Figure 14, are not as crisp. There are also font variations.
