Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

A radio frequency pulse width modulation (RF-PWM) scheme based on phase-shift control and mapping PWM (MPWM) is described. Pulse coding is the key to improving the coding efficiency, flexibility and configurability of the all-digital transmitter (ADTx). In this paper, the method and error analysis of decomposing the original signal into two phase-modulated constant envelope signals by phase-shift control are introduced. Simultaneously, the MPWM scheme is proposed to complete the direct conversion of the phase-modulated signal to the level pulse wave form. Then, the fast generation of the 3-level digital RF modulated signal is completed by vector synthesis. The manuscript can be accepted if the following hints be addressed.

1. A relation between Figure 3 and Figure 4 should be shown.

2. Mapping flowchart is not clearly described.

3. For Figure 6, no complete answer and explanation can be seen in the form of comparison.

4. Compare the SI and SII methods together in the conclusion section.

Reviewer 2 Report

Dear authors;

Your paper entitled “A 3-level RF-PWM method based on phase-shift control and MPWM for ADTx” I have several comments that I wish to be useful for you:

1- In the abstract, the authors need to clarify their achievements and their novelty.

2- There are still some aspects that can be improved (for grammar and punctuations). Improve the technical writing of your paper, where there are several grammatical errors and spelling I think they need to be checked out.

3- The conclusion needs more clarification of differences between the proposed methods and the published previous results. For example, giving specific comparison conditions and numbers could be very valuable for this study. Also, more efforts to elaborate the achieved results with respect to the future work,

4- Is there any practical model for their case study to validate their achievements?

5- Calculating the bit error rate and the channel capacity is a very important part for this research.

Regards
