Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The authors present their findings on an analog baseband circuit for wireless local area networks. The paper is well organized.
The theoretical background of the study is detail analyzed. Although the study is only evaluated with simulated results, The paper is scientifically sound.
The authors should put the advantages of the study in the comparison section with more detailed explanations by considering other studies in the literature.

Authors in this research work have designed and investigated the design of analog baseband circuit for WLAN transceiver. The 5th order active RC Chebyshev LPF, PGA in closed-loop structure resistor feedback mode, and DCOC in continuous time feedback mode are adopted by IF-receiver. The idea and concept of the paper are interesting. The promising results have been presented and the validity of the paper has been approved by approved comparisons with state-of-the-art literature. This works can be attractive for circuit designer and researchers. But, still there are some points which authors are requested to carefully address them to improve the quality of the work.

1) The design process of the proposed circuit should be briefly discussed in the abstract section.

2) The advantages of the proposed circuit need to be added in the abstract section.

3) The integration process of the proposed circuit with four antenna transceiver can be briefly discussed in the abstract section.

4) system on-chip and antennas on-chip need to be more explained in the introduction section. Proper references should be used as well. In below there are useful suggestions to improve the introduction section.

"On-Chip Antenna Design Using the Concepts of Metamaterial and SIW Principles Applicable to Terahertz Integrated Circuits Operating over 0.6–0.622 THz" International Journal of Antennas and Propagation, Volume 2020, Article ID 6653095, 9 pages, https://doi.org/10.1155/2020/6653095.

"Study on on-Chip Antenna Design Based on Metamaterial-Inspired and Substrate-Integrated Waveguide Properties for Millimetre-Wave and THz Integrated-Circuit Applications", Journal of Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves 42, 17–28 (2021).

"A Comprehensive Survey on Antennas On-Chip Based on Metamaterial, Metasurface, and Substrate Integrated Waveguide Principles for Millimeter-Waves and Terahertz Integrated Circuits and Systems," IEEE Access, vol. 10, pp. 3668-3692, 2022.

5) System architecture of zero-IF transceiver based on IF multiplexing has been shown in Fig.1. Please demonstrate it in more details and explain how authors have extracted this architecture?

6) The design process of the structure of two stage Miller fully differential operational amplifier exhibited in Fig.2 requires elaboration in depth.

7) Authors have presented interesting equations in the manuscript. Please discuss how they have been extracted? More explanations can be attractive for readers.

8) The structure of RC calibration circuit is displayed in Fig.6, please add more discussion on this figure about how to design this architecture?

9) Table 3 is an interesting table which provides proper comparison with prior arts. It would be nice to add two more rows of “applied design approach, and design complexity” to extend the terms of comparison.

10) Reference part needs to be improved by a proper extension as per above mentioned suggestion.

Reviewer 3 Report

The authors have presented an analog baseband circuit for wireless local area networks transceiver in this paper. The paper is well written and has high technical aspects. However, the following minor modifications should be considered in the paper:

  • Kindly provide references for the equations, which are not extracted by authors.
  • Add name and of each block and indicate it on the layout in Fig. 7 for better clarity.
  • The horizontal axes of frequency responses plots in Figs. 8-12 should be written in MHz unit.
  • I recommend that authors fabricate the circuit to show the validity of the results.
  • Explain more state-of-the-art works in the introduction section. As a suggestion the following work about LPF may be helpful: doi:10.3906/elk-1801-127.
  • Kindly explain about gain error and output third order intercept point (OIP3) characteristics of the proposed work.
