Comments and Suggestions for Authors

This paper presents a continuous time simulation and system-level control model for a modern MVDC grid.

1.The innovation is unclear, focusing on common modular modeling methods and the development of a high-level simulation tool that allows continuous operation with user interaction, which does not constitute a novel contribution by itself.

2.The models presented in the manuscript appear to be overly simplistic, and the comparison of simulation results is limited to the SST model. In Figure 4, there is a significant discrepancy between the average model and the switching model, especially in terms of fluctuations.

3.Section 4 lacks simulation validation for the entire system model, and Figure 17 lacks operating condition details. What causes the frequent voltage and current fluctuations within 1 second is unclear.

4.Is it appropriate to use equivalent voltage/current sources in system-level modeling? Since system-level model operates on a millisecond scale, particularly for electromechanical transient at this scale.

5. Where is the interface between the proposed system-level model and the energy management system?

6.The conclusion mentions achieving "a realistic degree of accuracy" without providing a basis for this claim in the text. There is a lack of simulation comparison validation and quantitative analysis to support this assertion.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

This manuscript provides a comprehensive study on the continuous time modelling of the MVDC distribution grid. The developed model could significantly increase the computational efficiency of relative works, highlighting the significance of this work within the field. I would recommend the publication of this manuscript, but there are some concerns that require attention:

1) Given the manuscript's primary focus on computational efficiency, I would suggest the authors to present a comparison of computational efficiency between the current model and its predecessors.

2) Beyond efficiency, what additional benefits does the developed model offer? Additionally, how does the accuracy of the current model compare with that of previous models?

3) In both the abstract and the conclusion section, I would suggest the authors to highlight more definitive outcomes or contributions of this study. For example, specifying the average efficiency improvement observed in the simulations would effectively highlight the significance of the research.

4) A possible typo on line 56; it may be “Prospects and challenges in MVDC.”

5) The authors reviewed “Prospects and challenges in MVDC” in Section 1.1. However, the connection between this discussion and the manuscript's goals is not clear to me.
