Comments and Suggestions for Authors

Dear authors,

Your study aimed to investigate the relationship between low-income elementary school students’ physical activity enjoyment and physical activity behavior and to determine if their motor competence predicts their physical activity enjoyment and physical activity behavior.

It's an interesting topic, however the ideal for this study was to verify the differences with another group of children with higher socioeconomic status... However, these results do not seem to me to have been influenced by socioeconomic status but rather by the age of the children and the type of surrounding environment.

I noticed that the manuscript had already undergone some revisions and that it was actually better.

Below are some additional suggestions that I believe will improve readers' understanding.

Summary:

1. Introduction:

They should include more references about the relationship between motor skills and age, the impact of locomotor skills (what types of locomotor skills) at these ages and the relationship with motor competence.

Insert reference: “Besides socioeconomic status and motor competence, physical activity enjoyment could be another influential factor in habitual physical activity behaviors in children.”

In the last paragraph, authors must insert the results they hope to obtain from the investigation (study hypotheses).

2. Materials and Methods

2.1. Participants

I think that for a better understanding of readers, they should reformulate the 1st paragraph as follows:

“The study included a total of 82 students (10±0.86), x being male (m±SD) and x being female (m±SD).”

Introduce the type of environment in which the children live (rural or urban) and the study inclusion and exclusion factors.

2.2. Data Collection Procedures

They must include the opinion of the ethics committee for carrying out the study.

2. Results

For a better understanding, you should remove the initials from “M” and “SD” and always place these values between (). For example:

“Analysis of the PAQ-C data revealed that jogging/running (3.41 ± 1.46), playing tag (3.37 ± 1.40), and walking (3.37 ± 1.50),” etc…

3.Discussion

I think they should include references at the beginning about the relationship between motor skills and age, the impact of locomotor skills at these ages and the relationship with motor competence and then compare them with the results obtained in this study.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

Participants/The study included a total of 82 students, with 51.2% of them being male, and the average age of all students was 10.0 years (SD = 0.861). It is recommended that the SD for the average age should be presented as ±.

It is recommended to briefly mention or demonstrate that the accuracy of the researchers involved in data collection is at least 80%, and to specify the method used to verify this or the research methodology.

I recommend adding a statement about the exceptional reliability and validity of the research tool (questionnaire).

Does this study take into account sample size estimation? If not, why? The sample size in this type of study is very small, so caution should be exercised in inferring and interpreting the results, and this should be mentioned in the limitations. Additionally, the inclusion and exclusion criteria should be described.
