Title: Heat Transfer Model and Soft Sensing for Segmented Fluidized Bed Dryer

Manuscript ID: processes-2014889

Abstract

The result of the study can be more emphasized in the abstract. More numerical results should be included in the abstract.

Keywords

There are too many keywords; choose those that reflect the essence of the work. Also, keywords should be different from the words in the title of the paper.

Introduction

The study does not provide sufficient information about its novelty and the gaps it will fill in the literature. It would be beneficial to emphasize this point more in the introduction. The authors need to write how this work differs from previous works. Please provide a detailed explanation and presentation.

Materials and Methods

Please provide detail for the FLIR SC620 camera (line 135)

Please redesign the equations according to the style of the journal.

Results and discussion

In the section, similarities and differences between the previous studies should be discussed and the reasons for them should be pointed out. Regrettably, I could not find these discussions in the article.

What are the limitations and future directions of this study? I suggest including a separate section to discuss the limitations of the proposed work and the future research directions.

Conclusions

A comprehensive revision of the conclusions is needed. Some sentences were too long, making them difficult for readers to understand. Be clear and concise. Summarize the main points.

Language:

The text contains several typographical and grammatical errors that must be corrected before the paper can be accepted.

Reviewer 2 Report

The present work tries to develop a soft sensor for the online prediction of LOD in one part of a fluidized bed dryer. The work is interesting and the manuscript is well-written. In my opinion, the present work can be published after some minor revisions. My comments are as:

-Write the full abbreviated phrase the first time you introduce LOB

- How did you get the overall heat transfer coefficient, U?

- In figure 6-b, why the results increase after t=8h?

-  In the manuscript, the accuracy of the measuring devices should be mentioned.

1.      The equations should be rephrased by Math type throughout the manuscript and consistency should be made on the number of equations.

2.      There are some typo errors.. such as:  Bed cross section area (m ²) …….Single segment volume (m ³)… Authors need to recheck those.

3.      In Fig. 6 (b), why the temperature was found to increase after 8 hours?

4.      Authors are advised to provide error bar in all experimental results.

5.      References [x-y] the authors need to be very specific here. The reader needs to know what exactly was based on these studies, and which studies in particular. Please increase the literature review mentioned similar and related works. Here some suggestion:
