The authors published research into raise the initial pulse velocity of the pressurized pulsed water jet, on the strength of the pressurized pulsed water jet flow field capture system and were researched the results of the initial pressure of the pressurized cavity and the driving pressure on the multistage pulse of the jet. The experiments show that with the increase of the initial pressure of the booster chamber, the jet changes from discontinuous state to continuous state, and the multistage pulse changes from dominant multi-pulse to recessive multi-pulse at the same time.

The authors presented the aim of the work not very clearly. However, they certainly did not consider the research gap that should be specified after analyzing the literature.

The paper is remarkably interesting, good fits the profile of the Processes journal but requires some change in the following scope:

1.       The analysis of the state of art is modest and does not include many European and world sources, mainly Asian ones. This must be changed, taking into account the works of Mohan Vijay, Josef Foldyna, Sergej Hloch.

2.       The authors presented the aim of the work not very clearly.

3.       They certainly did not consider specification of the research gap that should be given after analyzing the literature.

4.       Chapter 2 Experimentation. We put a space between the value and the unit, e.g. it is: 45L/min, it should be: 45 L/min. Applies to all work, figures too.

5.       Figure 10 is poor quality and need improvement.

 

6.       The conclusions are modest and should be extended, also with conclusions for further research.

Authors reply: Thank you for your valuable feedback. We fully agree with the sound wave excited pulsed water jet technology and its applications studied by European scientists such as the Czech Republic. Our team has frequently cited their published papers in their past papers, and their academic works will also be added to the revised manuscript in the future.

Authors reply: I'm very sorry for not clarifying the purpose of this work. The multi pulse characteristics of the pressurized pulsed water jet flow field are important for the mechanism of rock damage caused by the jet. In addition, the adjustment of hydraulic parameters affects this multi pulse characteristic, but the specific impact results are still unknown. Therefore, we will analyze the influence of hydraulic parameters on the flow field characteristics through experiments, and further modify our introduction to ensure that our readers can understand our work objectives.

In the paper, the authors explained the influence of hydraulic parameters on the multi-stage pulse characteristics of a pulsating water jet under pressure. They performed experiments varying the initial pressure in the chamber as well as the driving pressure. They observed the first and second pulse of the jet with the help of a high-frequency camera. Some details are given below: Explain figure 4 and 7 with emphasis on a, b and c. Figure 9 clarify the values of t in ms and their selection.
I miss the main conclusion of the article with an emphasis on which parameters are most suitable to apply in a real experiment. Some examples of rock destruction that were analyzed in the introduction.

Authors' reply: Through experimental research, it was found that the initial pressure directly changes the structural characteristics of the jet, making the flow field structure incoherent, which is conducive to generating water hammer pressure. The driving pressure changes the location and distance of multiple pulses, causing changes in the pulse characteristics of multiple pulses. The research results are conducive to adjusting the optimal pulse position of the jet under different driving pressures.

This serves as a concise and compelling summary of the study's unique value and significance within the existing body of literature, which has been discussed earlier in the introduction.

As our pressurized pulsed water jet is a new type of jet, there has been less research on it, so there is less description of the shortcomings of other scholars. We will focus on highlighting its reference significance for the paper.

 

  1. Table 1 should be explained in more detail. For example, how the experimental parameters were selected. Whether randomly, based on recommendations, literature, or the capabilities of the machine tool.
