Reviewer 2 Report

The author has presented a novel approach to assess residual stress/strain change post processing for fiber reinforced plastic material, which is a type of material that has many uses. The simulation results predict the actual thermal strain/stress behavior pretty well, and can be interesting to others in the same field. I’ve listed a few minor things that can be improved:

1) Given the complexity of experiment design, it would be ideal to have actual photos illustrating the setup, making it convenient for others to implement similar setup in their study.

2) In result part, I’m not sure how many repetitive runs author tried to collect statistical meaningful data. I would suggest repeat the experiments to collect average/standard deviation and label them on the graph, this will help understand the true deviation between experiment and simulation results.

Reviewer 3 Report

The reviewer appreciated this work very much, especially for the wide experimental part. He is here giving some suggestions for further improvement:

the English language should be reviewed by an English-speaking person

some sections of results should be moved to the 'Materials and Methods' section: paragraph 5.1 and paragraph 5.2

Table 2 the article is very long and some pars should be removed, giving proper references: see, for example, paragraph 6.2

the readability of figures 3-6 could be improved if more different colours would be used such as blue and red.

in the acknowledgement details of the funds should be given (number and founding sponsors)

in the references, the date of the most recent access should be reported for web references references to theses should be possibly changed in references to article or to web pages otherwise they cannot be accessed and they are practically useless
