Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The reviewer would like to thank the authors and editors for the opportunity to review this well illustrated and informative manuscript.  The manuscript itself describes a case of a recurrent cellular blue nevus which gave the appearance of a cellular blue nevus satellitosis.  The article further serves to highlight that such lesions are rare and while clinically these lesions are suspicious for melanoma, that this seems to be an " unusual manifestation of a recurrent blue nevus."

While the quality of the photos is excellent, figure 4 seems a bit too complex with all the small arrows between the various images.  The figure may be more visually appealing if the slender arrows are removed and more description is added to the the figure legend.

It may also be interesting to add Agminated blue nevus into the differential diagnosis (of course in the absence of previous surgical history.

Additionally, for the discussion, the paragraph starting on line 136  with "max tieche first discribed" may be a nice first paragraph to start the discussion, leading into the the paragraphs currently starting at line 120 and 127.

Reviewer 2 Report

Dear Academic Editor, thank you very much for the possibility to review this interesting manuscript by Kneitz et al. I was very happy to review this work which I consider very valid and worthy of publication in a prestigious journal such as Dermatopathology. However, I have some suggestions for the authors, which is why I opt for a minor revision: In Figure 1A it would be better to add an arrow to indicate the linear surgical scar area. Line 95: Please correct "In" with "in" as capital letters are not necessary. Homogenize the font throughout the manuscript. In the Discussion section, briefly discuss the differential diagnosis with other important entities such as blue epithelioid nevus, animal-type melanoma and neurotropic melanoma.
