Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This paper develops a parity-baseline segmented planar imaging method. Some results reveal the superiority of the proposed method as well. There are some comments which should be addressed by authors:

1) The flowchart of the developed method should be added such that it is easier for readers to understand it.

2) For the results presented in the Figures in the simulation sections, more explanations on them seem necessary and helpful to readers.

3) There exist some typos about grammar and format. The authors are suggested to check them carefully to improve the quality of the paper.

4) More discussions on the future research direction are suggested to be included in the revision.

Reviewer 2 Report

The paper “Optimal design of segmented planar imaging system based on rotation and CLEAN algorithm” reports on design and theoretical investigation of  a parity-baseline planar imaging technique having additional frequency elements. This is obtained by varying different baseline selection in the rotational process. Authors developed a theoretical model to analyze the technique and its impact on imaging. As a result, Authors claimed improvement of about 20% to 55% compared to conventional approaches.

This manuscript is reasonably organized and structured. The readability is good as well. Provided figures are clear. Employed methods are adequate for this study. Results presentation and overall discussion is solid.

Few concerns and comments are provided below.

(1)    Manuscript would benefit from a benchmark table comparing achieved results with the state-of-the-art techniques and results.

(2)    Missing experimental validation is a clear drawback of this study.

(3)    Besides the claimed improvements of 20% to 55%, Authors should be clear with scientific novelty of their work

(4)    Can Authors discuss on the main limitation of the proposed approach. Please also include a pathway for scalability and future improvements.

(5)    Manuscript would also benefit from a proposed methodology for experimental validation.

(6)    Critical applications for the proposed imaging techniques should be discussed as well.
