Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Manuscript Wang et al. is associated with an important direction in the development of applied enzymology - obtaining oligosaccharides that have a prebiotic effect on the human body. The work considers the effect of GMOS on the human intestinal microbiota, which corresponds to the profile of FERMENTATION. Notes:

Abstract: the enzyme that is used to produce GMOS is not specified

Intro: can be enhanced with information about other oligosaccharides, such as from xylan or other hemicelluloses. This will give globality to the work, since they also have similar properties.

Methods: Is the enzyme preparation used in the work laboratory or commercial? It is required to explain its origin.

Line 187 “OUT” is a typo, please check the entire text.

Results and discussion: the main problem in these sections: the authors talk about oligosaccharides, but there is no mass characteristic, n=3 or n=10, and which is better? Chromatographic analysis of the studied products would undoubtedly enhance the work. It is recommended to make at least assumptions on this issue.

Dear authors

I consider that it is an interesting topic, but ¿Why isn't there a design of experiments? or statistical analysis.

Which was the SCFA produced in the greatest quantity?

It will be interesting to know the individual production of each SCFA.

Please, the conclusions should be more complete according to the results obtained.

I think that the English language needs revision
