Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This paper, entitled ANAEROBIC FERMENTATION OF SLAUGHTERHOUSE WASTE IN CODIGESTION WITH WHEAT STRAW TO DETERMINE THE BIOCHEMICAL POTENTIAL OF METHANE AND THEIR KINETIC ANALYSIS, is a scholarly work and can increase knowledge on this domain. The authors provide an interesting and original study, the content is relevant to Fermentation.

I have some general and specific comments:

- the abstract and keywords are meaningful

- the mansucript is quite well written and well related to existing literature

- about procedure used for BMP test, the authors could also consider Hafner et al., 2020, Water

- please provide data with one digit in Table 1 and provide standard deviation or accuracy, same comment for Table 2 and Table 3

- please provide error bars in Figure 1

- please discuss about limitation ou using BMP test with small amount of samples and  optimized conditions for the degradation

- what could be the recommandations of the authors based on these conclusions in order to monitor AD process? What could be the applicability ta highest scale (pilot or real scale)?

As it, this paper is not fully acceptable for publication and requires some amendements and additional information. I recommend the following decision: ACCEPT AFTER MINOR REVISION..

Author Response

REVIEWER 1.

Comment 1. Please provide data with one digit in Table 1 and provide standard deviation or accuracy, same comment for Table 2 and Table 3

Answer

Grateful for your suggestions, we have revised the tables and we have provided standard deviation.

Comment 2. Please provide error bars in Figure 1

Answer

We have added the error bars.

Comment 3. Please discuss about limitation or using BMP test with small amount of samples and optimized conditions for the degradation.

Answer

Following the suggestion and grateful for the observation, we have added a discussion section in which the request is indicated.

Comment 4. What could be the recommendations of the authors based on these conclusions in order to monitor AD process? What could be the applicability ta highest scale (pilot or real scale)?

Answer

Grateful for the observation, we have added the suggested information in the conclusion section.

Reviewer 2 Report

The manuscript by Orlando Meneses Quelal  and David Pilamunga Hurtado (fermentation-2510506) investigated the anaerobic co-digestion of rumen residues with wheat straw in a potential biochemical test of methane and to define the change and effect of the C/N ratio that will occur during co-digestion, in addition to the synergistic effect and biodegradability of organic matter together with its kinetic contrast of biogas production. This is study with much interest. However, the current presentation is hard to understand, and it will be unfair to evaluate its quality based on this version. Therefore, I would like to suggest authors to optimize the expression. Please, make your aim clearly in Abstract and Introduction.  Such sentences, Line 52-54, being lignocellulosic material a suitable candidate to compensate for the carbon deficiency of manure [12]. [7], studied the production of biogas and subsequent generation of power and heat from the co-digestion of food waste and primary sludge. How to come manure [12]. [7], studied? Check the similar mistakes and revise accordingly.

Please polish the manuscript by a native speaker, pay more attention to the punctuation.

Answer

We appreciate the observation that you give us in this regard and certainly there was no clarity. We have reviewed the document in its entirety in order to clearly express the information.
