4-   It is better to added good recommendation in abstract

5-   Also write your objective clear

6-   Discussion is very poor and need to rewrite it  again

7-   Make sure that all scientific names in the References list are italics.

8-   Please add the DOI for ALL the References

Comment: Put also the names of the author(s) of all taxa cited the first time they appear in the text

Answer: We have put the names of the author(s) of all taxa where it was missing

Comment: Keyword should be different than in title

Answer: We modified the keywords

Comment: It is better to added good recommendation in abstract

Answer: We added a recommendation to abstract

Comment: Also write your objective clear

Answer: we add the study objective to the abstract and introduction as well

Comment: Discussion is very poor and need to rewrite it again

Answer: we have rewritten the whole discussion

Comment: Make sure that all scientific names in the References list are italics

Answer: We have double-checked all scientific names.

Comment: Please add the DOI for ALL the References

Answer: We have added DOI for the References where DOI were available

Comment: All tables must be self-explanatory the style and font of all references should be the same

Answer: we made all tables self-explanatory by adding the detailed titles, using proper style and font

Author Response

Answer to Reviewer #2 (Comments for the Author):

We thank reviewer#2 for his valuable comments and suggestions to improve the manuscript.

Comment: I think this sentence (Tomatoes can be eaten raw, cooked, or processed into various products [2]) is unnecessary (Line no 34, 35)

Answer: We agree with your comment, and we removed the sentence from our manuscript.

Comment: It is not completely clear. You had two sowing dates? I don't see the sowing date in the results. Can you explain better this? How many plants did you have in total per treatment? Distance between rows was 30,60 and 90 cm, for this size of plot you had 140 (30cm), 70 (60cm) and 42 (90cm) plants/plot? (Line number 89, 90, 91)

Answer: We made the sentence clear now as well as we also included the number of plants/plots

Comment: Big letter for ‘the’ (Line number 145)

Answer: We put the capital letters for ‘the’

Comment: This are numbers of adult stage or all stages of insects (Table 2, Line number 148, 149)?

Answer: We have counted adult insect pests, and we mentioned them in Table 2.

Comment: Why did you choose to show the results for Nezara viridula when in table 1 there were no statistical differences between plant spacings for N. viridula (Line number 171, 172, 173, 174, 175)?

Answer: We thank the reviewer for his valuable comment. Because of the significant triple interaction (plant spacing treatments x tomato varieties x time of observation) for temporal distribution for only O. orientalis and N. viridula, and we mentioned it in 'Line 156, 157, 158' under sub-title “3.2. The temporal distribution of insects as affected by tomato genotypes and planting distances

Comment: This sentence is not clear. I suggest splitting it into two sentences, if I understood the meaning correctly. For both varieties, the lower planting distance (30x50 cm) enhanced heights of tomato plants. The higher number of fruits/plants.... (Line number 189, 190, 191, 192, 193)

Answer: We agree with your comment, and we made the sentence clear by split the sentence according to your suggestion.

Overall, we corrected and edited the whole manuscript to meet the valuable comments and suggestions of reviewer#2

Reviewer 3 Report

The manuscript title “Abundance and population dynamics of the key insect pests, and Agronomic traits of tomato (Solanum Lycopersicon L.) Varieties under different planting densities and desert Climate” is conducted in a good manner and has scientific worth. I have some minor comments for authors:

1-      Please give a background (or problem which is need to be solve) of this study in the first 2-3 lines of the abstract.

2-      Line 20: “The measured agronomic traits of both tomato varieties were significantly increased” Which agronomic traits? Please add the agronomic traits details in the abstract such as yield, dry weight, etc.
