Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Dear colleagues, I congratulate you on your chosen of the scientific field and this article. The publication is well developed, in principle I accept it for publishing, but I have suggestions for minor corrections. First, I think it's good to have the RE written in full (Radicle emergence) in the title. It would be appropriate in the Introduction to reduce the discussion of hybrid seeds, as it does not fully fit the subject. The aims of the article to be presented in a more concise format and not with additional explanations. In Table 1, only NG can be specified, which gives a sufficient advantage for the initial quality of the seeds. In the Discussion section, in the first paragraph, the citation of Table 5 and Figures 4, 5 and 6 are not in their respective, appropriate places. The last paragraph could be shorter, emphasizing only that the results obtained by you can eventually be used in creating an automated system for the calculation of RE. This can also be stated as a putative possibility in the conclusions as well.

Reviewer 2 Report

The submitted manuscript “RE as seed vigour test estimates seedling quality of hybrid cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) cultivars in low temperature and salt stress conditions” by Demir et al. is a well-planned and executed work. I would suggest acceptance after satisfactory addressing of these comments.

Comments:

1.      Abstract: The authors must clarify the study's objectives and findings in the abstract.

2.      Results:

2.1  Data presentation could be improved in a few places. Please add some sub-headers in the result part to help the reader.

2.2  Figures 4-5 are illegible, particularly the legend. The figures are poorly explained and won't mean much to our readers.

3.      Discussion: Please add some sub-headers in the discussion section to help the reader. In the discussion section, the authors should elaborate on how RE tests assist in high-quality seedling production in cucumber.

4.      The authors should be checked carefully for references.

5.      The authors must correct any spelling errors and grammatical errors.

Reviewer 3 Report

Reviewer remarks on the manuscript entitled "RE as seed vigour test estimates seedling quality of hybrid cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) cultivars in low temperature and salt stress conditions". The manuscript contains useful information on the effects RE (Radicle emergence) test to estimate the seedling emergence and quality. The issue of this article seems simple from the scientific point of view, which does not bring innovation, but acceptable.
