Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Dear authors,

Thank you very much for the interesting paper. Please find attached my comments for the manuscript:

Introduction:

- "Chest CT plays a crucial role in COVID-19 infection diagnostics" Please point out here that CT examination has played an important role in the traiigation at the beginning of the crisis and at the lack of testing.

Materials and Methods:

- "Johnson& Johnson-Janssen as the first vaccine, required a second vaccine dose with an mRNA vaccine at least 14 days before a positive COVID-19 RT-PCR" Here you need to be precise and describe where is this rule valid. Only in Germany? Also in Europe?

- Please mention which PACS system was used for the evaluation.

- The CT images were 1 mm, were the HR CTs? If not, why 1 mm?

- Fig.1 : Can you please mark which bars are significant.

Results: OK

Discussion: OK

Reviewer 2 Report

The manuscript Computed tomographic imaging features of COVID-19 pneumonia caused by the Delta (B.1.617.2) and Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant in a German nested cohort pilot-study group compares two COVID-19 variants in a german cohort. This is the first time comparing the two variants via CT imaging differences. Comparing those variants can help also other variants and is helpful for treatment.

I have some minor issues with this manuscript.

1. Tables have t-test and Fisher's Exact Test data in it. It would be easier if maybe the Fisher's test would have an asterisk or similar on it and would be explained in the legend.

2. Figure 1 needs the error bars in the figures and the significances.

3. Table 3 is a bit busy and difficult to understand with all the categories. Is there a better way to display this table?

4. Figure 3 needs the significance in the figure and not only in the legend.

5. Line 347-348. Looks like there is a period (.) missing after changes.
