Comments and Suggestions for Authors

This research aims to outline a global overview of BIM implementations in this field, and to provide guidelines and forecasts for the continuation of research and improvement of efficiency in the use of BIM in road projects.

The paper looks good and provide important information about the Global Efforts in BIM Adoption for Road Infrastructure, however, There some specific comments:

1.      In table 1: define what do you mean by culture and Primary Data Type graphical  and Non-graphical.

2.      Figure 2: the second box, the process of searching and selecting “NBP”, selection of Noteworthy BIM publications (NBP) defined by Kassem. Give a reference number [17] for Kassem inside the figure.

3.      Line 134: what do you mean by “BIM maturity of the publications”. How you evaluate the maturity of the publications.

4.      Line 135: investigate the adherence of the publications to ISO 19.650, define ISO 19.650 what it all about, what is the importance of ISO 19.650 to this study.

5.      In Table 2 and Figure 4, 5, and 8, lines 625, 671: use United Arab Emirates instead of Dubai.

6.      Line 138: “main theme identified” define the main theme in parenthesis.

7.      Line 619: However, it is noted that many of the analyzed NBPs result from Master’s and Ph.D. Add the word thesis or dissertations at the end.

8.      Figure 10 is located in conclusions, it is not common to have Figures in conclusions, you may move it to another section.

9.      There are several abbreviations in Figure 10 you need to define it.

10.  Conclusions section is very long, you may move part of it inside to the discussion section.

11.  Number of references is 55 only which is little low compared to a review papers, in addition, several references are not academic publications.

Author Response

  1. In table 1: define what do you mean by culture and Primary Data Type graphical  and Non-graphical.  Served. Definition inserted in lines 72 -75 and 85-90.
  2. Figure 2: the second box, the process of searching and selecting “NBP”, selection of Noteworthy BIM publications (NBP) defined by Kassem. Give a reference number [17] for Kassem inside the figure.
    Served. Figure 2 corrected.
  3. Line 134: what do you mean by “BIM maturity of the publications”. How you evaluate the maturity of the publications.
Served. meaning added in line 162-164
  4. Line 135: investigate the adherence of the publications to ISO 19.650, define ISO 19.650 what it all about, what is the importance of ISO 19.650 to this study.
Served. Justify added in line 165-171
  5. In Table 2 and Figure 4, 5, and 8, lines 625, 671: use United Arab Emirates instead of Dubai.
Served. table 2, Figure 4, 5, 8 and the text corrected.
  6. Line 138: “main theme identified” define the main theme in parenthesis.Served. Defined in line 175
  7. Line 619: However, it is noted that many of the analyzed NBPs result from Master’s and Ph.D. Add the word thesis or dissertations at the end.
    Served. Inserted in line 403-404
  8. Figure 10 is located in conclusions, it is not common to have Figures in conclusions, you may move it to another section.
Served. Figure 10 placed in the Discussions section.
  9. There are several abbreviations in Figure 10 you need to define it.
Served. Abbreviated in Figure 10 Presented in table 3 inserted.
  10. Conclusions section is very long, you may move part of it inside to the discussion section.
Served. By sending Figure 10 for discussion, the Conclusion became leaner.
  11. Number of references is 55 only which is little low compared to a review papers, in addition, several references are not academic publications.
Served. Deleted references have been added. The largest number of non-academic references is due to the proposed research itself, as defined by Kassem.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The introduction provides a comprehensive background on the topic of BIM adoption in road infrastructure. It effectively outlines the context and importance of BIM in the AECO sector, particularly in the context of Industry 4.0. Ensure that all relevant recent studies are referenced to provide a complete picture of the current state of research.

The research design appears appropriate, using a systematic literature review to gather and analyze data on global BIM adoption efforts. Further clarity on the selection criteria for noteworthy BIM publications (NBP) could enhance transparency.

The methods are adequately described, detailing the systematic review process and the criteria for selecting NBPs. A more detailed explanation of the analysis methods used to assess the BIM maturity and ISO 19650 adherence could provide better insight into the research process.

The results are clearly presented, with tables and figures effectively summarizing the findings. Include more detailed discussions of regional variations in BIM adoption and the specific challenges faced in different countries.

The conclusions are well-supported by the results, summarizing the global state of BIM adoption and providing useful insights for future research and policy development. Highlight the implications of the findings for practitioners and policymakers more explicitly.

Comments on the Quality of English Language

The manuscript is generally clear, but some sections could benefit from grammatical and stylistic improvements to enhance readability.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

Dear Authors,

Thank you for the new research material in the Manuscript with ID Infrastructures-3087167 titled "A Review of Global Efforts in BIM Adoption for Road". Generally, the manuscript presented acceptable quality research material in highlighting, the hypothesis, and methodological statement. The selected problem of the topic “Global Efforts in BIM Adoption for Road” is interesting. Several comments regarding the improvement of the manuscript are following:

The presented research material can be presented as a review article.

The topic BIM Adoption for Road for the deep literature analysis problem of the topic is not sufficient. The Road problem can by more widely presented. The problems and structure of the infrastructure objects can be presented.

In the manuscript, literature analysis from the selected problem of the topic with a new literature source (2023-2024 year) can be presented. The presented review part and list of the presented literature references can be improved. The reference to a topic of the infrastructure journals is welcome.

The information regarding the content (page 2; 44-46) is unnecessary.

Page 19 line 699, abbreviations and explanations must be checked and corrected (for example, "BIM Builgins Information Modeling").
