Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The article 'EFFICIENCY OF NITROGEN FERTILIZATION IN MILLET IRRIGATED WITH BRACKISH WATER' is nicely written and provides valuable scientific information on stress factors for plant growth. The authors must address the following review comments-

Although minor, but the article needs some grammatical formatting.

The article needs overall formatting as well

The author should mention the average recommended application rate of nitrogen for millet production.

The information mentioned in the figures must be consistent with the figure description for example, Figure 4: dry matter vs dry mass.

Why does the leaf dry mass data for different irrigation water not presented in the graphical illustration?

Author Response

Dear, we accept all the suggestions made. However, some points need to be answered.

REVIEWER: Although minor, but the article needs some grammatical formatting.

AUTHOR: After the suggested corrections, we sent it to a company to review the English

REVIEWER:: Why does the leaf dry mass data for different irrigation water not presented in the graphical illustration?

AUTHOR: Because there was only an isolated effect of nitrogen doses treatment.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The manuscript authored by Sousa et al. investigated/evaluated the physiological responses and agronomic performance of greenhouse cultured millet crops subjected to nitrogen fertilization and irrigation water salinity. The study demonstrated that salt stress increased leaf sodium levels but had a negative impact on stalk dry mass, panicle dry mass, leaf gas exchange, mineral element concentrations and water use efficiency. However, the use of lower salinity water associated with increased nitrogen fertilization favored the above-mentioned physiological parameters. The manuscript provides a scientific basis for a possible strategy to reduce the negative impact of salt stress associated with the nutrition of millet plants using nitrogen fertilization. Overall, the manuscript presents a clear rational, a good experimental design and data interpretation. I would like to recommend accepting after text editing. I’m listing some that need to edit in the comments on the quality of English language.
