A New Practical Approach for 3D Documentation in Ultraviolet Fluorescence and Infrared Reflectography of Polychromatic Sculptures as Fundamental Step in Restoration
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
This work deals with the implementation of ultraviolet fluorescence and infrared reflectography techniques returning in 3D model the images acquired by digital photographic technique in UV and IR wavelengths. UV and IR 2D imaging techniques have always been used to support restoration works. The 3D development of these techniques, with modest costs, results a powerful tool for the work of conservators and restorers.
The upgrade of imaging techniques is applied in this case for the first time to a polychromatic wooden sculpture while it is usually used in the case of paintings.
The research is well presented, clear and exhaustive in each its part (introduction, material and methods, results, discussion, conclusion, and references).
