In the paper entitled “An efficient solution for probabilistic slope seismic stability analysis based on Polynomial Chao Kriging metamodel” a comprehensive and efficient method DUBLA-PDM-PCK is proposed to investigate the slope seismic stability to take into account the non-homogeneity and uncertainty of the soil, and the time and space variation of the seismic loading. The proposed DUBLA-PDM-PCK provides a streamlined and reliable tool for assessing slope stability in seismic environments.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

Dear Editor and Authors,

I have revised the manuscript entitled: An efficient solution for probabilistic slope seismic stability analysis based on Polynomial Chao Kriging metamodel. The topic is in scope of the journal. The study proposes an efficient procedure, DUBLA-PDM-PCK, which combines the DUBLA, PDM and PCK to facilitate a rapid and reliable assessment of slope stability in seismic-prone regions with consideration of the soil non-homogeneity and parameter uncertainty effects. Nevertheless, the manuscript show some critical point. In my opinion the authors should improve the manuscript with further information and explanation regarding the importance of the case study, I don’t understand well the data used to applied and validate the slope stability model, therefore the authors should better write this part in the manuscript. I suggest to add a flowchart to better explain all the steps of the procedure applied. In addition, a real discussion of the data are not made but was written only a summary of the results. Therefore, the manuscript can deserve publication but before that accept the paper some additional information should be provided. My recommendation is that the article needs some Revisions before it can be considered for publication.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The paper “An efficient solution for probabilistic slope seismic stability analysis based on Polynomial Chao Kriging metamodel” reports an interesting research work about the evaluation of the slope seismic behaviour using a new probabilistic approach based on the polynomial chao kriging model. In general, the paper appears well-written and well-organized in its different Sections. The proposed approach is clearly described in the text. The validation of the proposed approach is shown in Section 4.3. For these reasons, it is opinion of this reviewer that the manuscript can be considered for publication in GeoHazards after the following minor corrections/improvements:

- lines 45-47 consider as reported in 10.1016/j.engstruct.2020.110497

- Add additional comments of the Figure 1 which represents a fundamental step in order to understand the proposed approach

- Improve the quality of Figures 3, 4 and 8

- In the conclusions, highlight the limits of the proposed approach and add the further developments of the research work.

- carefully check the match with other existing paper

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

Dear Editor and Authors,

I have revised the new version of the manuscript entitled: An efficient solution for probabilistic slope seismic stability analysis based on Polynomial Chao Kriging metamodel. My opinion is that the quality of the manuscript, respect to first version, has been greatly improved considering all the suggestions of the reviewers. The Authors have discussed with great attention and wealth of details the items of the research. The paper appears well constructed, and well. Hence, it is recommended that the manuscript now can be accepted for publication in its present form.
