Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

I believe this study is well written, the results align with the literature, and it provides novel insights that could support the authors' suggestions regarding the role of emotional abilities in effectively coping with state anxiety during lockdown contexts.

Despite all these strengths, I have some minor comments that could help authors improve the quality of this potential paper, enabling readers to obtain a better synthesis of their results.

Introduction

I would like to know if other studies had examined the relationship between coping strategies, anxiety, and emotional intelligence in a crisis context, such as COVID-19 lockdown or other epidemic situations (e.g., Ebola, SARS)

Results

Are the authors checked for any differences based on age levels?

Discussion

I would like the authors to link more to the literature on these variables during the Covid-19 lockdown, discussing differences and similarities.

Conclusion

I would like to know which authors think about these results' clinical and social implications and how data about the relationship between anxiety, coping, and emotional intelligence could help healthcare agencies structure interventions to improve individuals' mental health during crises.

Introduction

Please better-structured sentences in lines 39-41

Methods

       Please better-specified recruitment procedures

If possible, I would like to know more about the sociodemographic characteristics of the sample, specifically about relational and occupational variables (are there any people who worked in healthcare during the COVID-19 pandemic?)

Please insert data about the reliability of the used scale in this study (Cronbach Alpha)

Reviewer 2 Report

No.

I suggest adding more tables with the assumptions of the measurement model.
