Carcass Characteristics and Meat Quality of Ross 308 Broiler Chickens Fed Malted Red and White Sorghum-Based Diets
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
The authors have examined the effects of malted sorghum on growth and carcass composition in Ross 308 broiler chickens.
There are a number of points that authors need to address:
1. What was the source of protein of the diets?
2. What was the replicate for growth and carcass composition? Was it pen (correct) or individual birds (not correct)?
3. Table 3
a. What do the authors mean by large intestine? Colon? 8 cm seems very long.
b. The number of significant values should at least 3 – e.g. 2.16 %.
4. Tables 4 and 5 – What was the meat? Carcass? Breast?

Title: Carcass characteristics and meat quality of Ross 308 broiler chickens fed malted red and white sorghum-based diets
Comments to the author:
The study aimed to evaluate the effects of feeding malted sorghum-based diets (malted red or white grains) on carcass characteristics and meat quality of broiler chickens. According to the reviewer, this is an interesting topic in poultry nutrition and production to improve its sustainability in the near future. The manuscript is well structured and deals appropriately with the primary purpose of the study. However, reviewer have some comments which s/he considers might help to improve the understanding of the manuscript.
