The Remote Sensing Society of Japan (RSSJ) was established in 1981 with the aim of liaising and collaborating on remote sensing research and contributing to the development and generalization of its science and technology. The activities of RSSJ include a wide range of fields, such as environmental monitoring, weather, ocean, ecology, geography, surveying, geology, disaster prevention, resource exploration, agriculture and forestry, fishery, civil engineering, construction, space development, and administration, among others. Hundreds of studies are currently underway across these disciplines. In recent years, high observation frequency weather observation by Himawari, increases in freely available satellite data such as Landsat, and the wide application of drones have made remote sensing an increasingly familiar technology and discipline.

The Swedish Society for Virology (SSV) was founded in 2008 to provide a forum for all interested in virology, including clinical, pre-clinical, environmental, veterinary, plant and/or microbial (phage) virology. The aim of the society is to promote the exchange of information and stimulate discussion and collaboration among scientists active in all aspects of virology. The society presents current information regarding upcoming events and meetings, grants, positions, and education opportunities.

Finally, in May 2019 two more societies chose to establish a cooperation with MDPI journals.

As part of this collaboration, the members of these affiliated societies will enjoy a discount on the article processing charges (APC) when submitting articles to the corresponding journals. The collaboration goes beyond the discount benefit offered to members and includes other services as well as cross-promotions.

The PSSRC aims to initiate and foster collaborative research between its members in all areas of the pharmaceutical solid state field by forming a network with equipment and expertise for processing of pharmaceuticals with all critical unit operations and related solid state analysis, providing a discussion forum to exchange ideas and facilitate novel innovations, providing a network to exchange members of the cluster through student and staff research visits and facilitating collaborations of its members in joint academic research projects and projects with the industry.

The Korean Tribology Society (KTS) aims to foster the development of science and technology related to friction, wear and lubrication. Founded in 1984, KTS is a professional organization with active members from academia, national research labs and various industries. KTS organizes 2 domestic conferences each year as well as an international symposium every 3 years.
