Journal of Clinical Medicine | Summary of the 2026 Academic Editorial Board Meeting at the ESC Congress 2026
The Academic Editorial Board Meeting of the Journal of Clinical Medicine (JCM, ISSN 2077-0383) was held on 29 August 2026 during the ESC Congress 2026 and was hosted by the Section Editor‑in‑Chief, Prof. Dr. Gregory Y. H. Lip.
We are pleased to have participated in the ESC Congress 2026 through our conference booth. This event offered a great platform for academic exchanges. We met many authors and reviewers with whom we have collaborated, Guest Editors, Topical Advisory Panel Members, Editorial Board Members, and interested scholars at our booth and heard their feedback and suggestions. Moreover, nine members took time from their busy congress schedules to join our Academic Editorial Board Meeting. We invite you to revisit the highlights of our activities at the event.
The photographs below show our booth and interactions with scholars. We look forward to meeting you at future congresses. Please follow our social media channels (LinkedIn, X and Facebook) for updates about our upcoming conference activities and new collaborations.

At the start of the Academic Editorial Board meeting, we presented key journal metrics, including Impact Factor and CiteScore performance, publication timelines, citation data, and submission trends. Board members discussed editorial standards and emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong focus on publishing high-quality research. Prof. Dr. Gregory Y. H. Lip highlighted the importance of quality in supporting the journal’s continued growth and impact. The performance of the “Cardiology“ and “Cardiovascular Medicine“ Sections was discussed in detail. The following key issues were covered in the meeting:
- Special Issue Topic Exploration: Members discussed relevant hot topics as potential new themes for upcoming Special Issues. The editorial team supports scholars in submitting Special Issue Proposals: https://www.mdpi.com/special-issues/proposal;
- Marketing Activities: We introduced our upcoming online congress, i.e., The 4th International Online Conference on Clinical Medicine; our Early Career Editorial Board recruitment information; and promotion activities on social media channels. We support the organization of academic publishing workshops (free of charge), either online or in-person, at universities affiliated with members. Such events are of particular benefit to students: https://www.mdpi.com/about/announcements/16178;
- Journal Awards: To recognize scholars’ contributions to the academic community, JCM has set up a series of journal awards. Members are encouraged to consider applying or recommending suitable candidates; additional awards are still planned;
- Collaborations: More than 1,000 universities and institutes have signed agreements with MDPI (https://www.mdpi.com/ioap). Authors affiliated with these institutions can benefit from reduced publication fees, as well as reduced costs for other additional services offered by MDPI. Members recommended potential society collaborations and suggested considering partnerships with international or regional societies;
- Research Integrity and Tools Supporting the Editorial Process: Members were informed about the Research Integrity Team, the Ethics Committee, and AI tools used to support manuscript processing, including Ethical Check, Reviewer Finder, GenAI bots, and InScope Checker;
- Open Discussion: Journal growth, editorial processes, content quality, reviewer participation, and ways to maximize the reach and impact of published studies.
