Obituary—Prof. Dr. Chris G. Dealwis
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Biology Editorial Board Member Prof. Dr. Chris G. Dealwis in July 2022. Prof. Dr. Dealwis was an associate professor at the Department of Pharmacology and a member of the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH, USA.
After earning his Ph.D. under Prof. Tom Blundell at Birkbeck College and subsequent training in industry and at Yale University, Prof. Dr. Dealwis started his career in the late 1990s. Over the following two decades, he led a remarkable research career in the fields of protein structure, function, and protein-based drug design. His research findings were used for the development of treatments for diseases such as cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, and microbial infections.
Over the years, Prof. Dr. Dealwis published more than 50 scientific papers in internationally peer-reviewed journals. He also led a Special Issue during his term serving as an Editorial Board Member in Biology: “Protein Drug Targets and Drug Design”.
His death is a significant loss to the academic community as well as anyone close to him. We offer our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.
