Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce a new Special Issue, “Open Issues on Blockchain and Cloud Computing in Big Data and Generative AI Era”, in the Big Data and Cognitive Computing journal.

Blockchain and Cloud Computing have revolutionized Big Data administration and processing. Using advanced artificial intelligence approaches, these technologies provide opportunities to improve data security, scalability, transparency, integration, etc. However, they also pose some potential challenges that require inventive solutions to overcome, such as the era of Big Data and Generative AI, as they can introduce new cyber threats for Blockchain and cloud computing-based systems. In addition, some other key challenges include ensuring data and cyber security, navigating the complexities of digital data management, deriving tangible business value from digitalization, and providing scalable solutions, computational complexity, and others. Addressing these issues is crucial for realizing the full potential of blockchain and cloud computing to receive benefits in diverse application areas, such as health, finance, industrial automation, and others.

This Special Issue focuses on the current state-of-the-art research highlighting recent advancements in scalability solutions, security protocols, interoperability frameworks, hybrid data management systems, process improvement, framework to combat cyber AI threats, and others. More specifically, we invite original research articles and reviews that address the following research areas but are not limited to:

  1. Scalability and Performance in the context of Big Data;
  2. Enhanced blockchain security and privacy techniques;
  3. Interoperability and Integration;
  4. Data Management and Storage;
  5. Novel approaches to reduce the computational and economic costs.

This Special Issue aims to collect high-quality submissions that provide new insights, propose innovative solutions, and pave the way for future developments in the following areas:

  1. Advanced, multi-scale, multi-modal, and automated data management solutions;
  2. Big Data approaches in Blockchain and Cloud Computing;
  3. Hybrid data management systems combining Blockchain and cloud storage;
  4. Preventive measures for data integrity and security in cloud environments;
  5. Interoperability frameworks for seamless integration of Blockchain and cloud services;
  6. Advanced cryptographic techniques for enhanced data privacy;
  7. Cost-efficient Blockchain implementations in cloud settings;
  8. Energy-efficient consensus mechanisms for Blockchain in cloud environments;
  9. Advanced personalization and recommender technologies using Blockchain;
  10. Inclusive design and access in Blockchain and cloud applications.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Big Data and Cognitive Computing is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1800 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
