Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Over the last several decades, scientific research has generated a significant body of knowledge on animal communication systems, which rely on a variety of different channels, including visual, auditory, chemical, tactile, and electrical. As the largest and most diverse group of vertebrates, fish present remarkable specializations in their communication systems. This Special Issue has a broad scope and intends to cover the wide diversity of communication systems in fish, from their underlying mechanisms and evolutionary aspects to the potential applications of their study. Contributions of both research articles and reviews focusing on all aspects of fish communication systems, and topics including production, reception, and processing of signals, communication networks, multimodal communication, evolution of fish communication systems, impact of environmental change on fish communication, and applied aspects are welcome.
