Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The aim of this Special Issue of Economies is to present the current results of research on the functioning of the tourism industry and its individual components in the context of digital transformation. The topics of the Special Issue include issues on both the supply and demand sides of the tourism market. From the supply side, the issue concerns the implementation of modern technologies into the activities of tourism sector entities. Among the entities of the tourism industry, the following should be especially taken into account: hoteliers, tour operators, travel agents, tourist carriers, gastronomy, and entities providing tourist attractions. An important element of the supply side are tourist destinations (DMOs) as local government units and tourist organizations, including economic tourism self-government units. In the sphere of consumption, it is necessary to take into account the scope of purchasing behavior of tourist consumers, supported by digital technologies when purchasing tourist services and during tourist trips and when using the services. The detailed issues covered by the Special Issue include the following: Tourism 5.0, Smart tourism, cybersecurity in the tourism industry, innovations in tourism, Open, Big and Small Data in tourism, social media in the management of tourism economic entities, the impact of new technologies, and social media on tourist behavior.
