Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Society is entering an era of intelligence, and the integration of networks and artificial intelligence (AI) has attracted widespread attention from both academia and industry. The integration of networks and AI includes two aspects: On one hand, network performance indicators now have more comprehensive requirements and network complexity increases with each generation. To meet the differentiated and customized needs of rapid adaptation to diverse scenarios, it is necessary to introduce high-quality AI to serve the network, thereby improving network efficiency, reducing operation and maintenance costs, and enhancing user experience. On the other hand, networks need to support ubiquitous AI applications (providing customers with ubiquitous connectivity, computing power, data, and algorithms for on-demand AI services) and meet AI service quality requirements such as latency and accuracy. In response to the need for AI in networks, and vice versa, the key technologies of native-AI need to be studied to improve the quality of AI. It is necessary to design native-AI networks and combine service-based capabilities to provide high-quality AI service flexibly for the network itself and vertical industries.

In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Native-AI architecture and key technologies;
  • AI models and algorithms for network optimization;
  • Novel AI-based transmission technologies;
  • Generative AI model and AI agent for network;
  • Network for distribute AI models;
  • New Quality of Service (QoS) metrics for native-AI;
  • Intelligent industrial network;
  • Service-based network function orchestration;
  • Network digital twin for AI.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
