Environmental History

A section of Histories (ISSN 2409-9252).

Section Information

The “Environmental History” section of our journal explores our interactions with nature. We examine with our readers the historical dimensions of climate and environmental change. Informing current debates on sustainability, habitability, conservation efforts, resource management, crisis, collapse, and recovery is our objective. The scope of our articles is especially wide because our authors cover topics such as environmental policies, the perceptions of nature, the response of ecosystems to new technology, and the societal factors that shape the physical landscape. Interdisciplinary approaches let contributors merge the insights, concepts, and methods they borrow from history, the natural sciences, and the environmental humanities. By fostering a critical dialogue, providing a historical context, andpioneering new perspectives, the “Environmental History” section contributes to a better understanding of past transformations in climate, the environment and society.
