Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce a Special Issue, titled “Data-Driven Modeling, Control, Optimization, and Decision-Making in Intelligent Systems”, of the journal Information. This Special Issue will highlight the latest advancements in and applications of data-driven techniques in intelligent systems. As modern technology continues to evolve, integrating data-driven approaches has become pivotal to enhancing intelligent systems' modeling, control, optimization, and decision-making processes across various domains. This Special Issue will serve as a platform for researchers, academicians, and industry experts to share innovative research, methodologies, and practical applications that leverage data-driven strategies to solve complex problems in intelligent systems. We invite original research articles, reviews, and case studies that contribute to this dynamic and rapidly growing field.

This Special Issue seeks contributions that cover, but are not limited to, the following topics:

1. Data-Driven Modeling Techniques:

  • Development and application of data-driven models for intelligent systems;
  • Comparative studies between traditional and data-driven modeling approaches.

2. Control Systems:

  • Data-driven control strategies for automated and semi-automated systems;
  • Implementation of adaptive and predictive control methods using real-time data.

3. Optimization:

  • Optimization algorithms tailored for intelligent systems;
  • Use of machine learning and AI for system optimization.

4. Decision-Making:

  • Data-driven decision-making processes in intelligent systems;
  • Role of predictive analytics and machine learning in enhancing decision-making;
  • Case studies on data-driven decision support systems.

5. Machine Learning Applications:

  • Integration of machine learning techniques into intelligent systems' control, optimization, and decision-making;
  • Case studies demonstrating the impact of machine learning on system performance.

6. Big Data Analytics:

  • Utilization of big data for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of intelligent systems;
  • Techniques for handling and processing large datasets in real-time applications.

7. Predictive Modeling:

  • Predictive analytics for forecasting system behavior and performance;
  • Development of models that predict system failures and enable pre-emptive maintenance.

8. Cyber–Physical Systems:

  • Data-driven approaches in the design and operation of cyber–physical systems;
  • Enhancing the resilience and reliability of cyber–physical systems through data-driven methods.

We welcome high-quality submissions that present significant findings and advancements in these areas. All submissions will undergo a rigorous peer-review process to ensure the publication of only the most impactful research.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Information is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.

Benefits of Publishing in a Special Issue

  • Ease of navigation: Grouping papers by topic helps scholars navigate broad scope journals more efficiently.
  • Greater discoverability: Special Issues support the reach and impact of scientific research. Articles in Special Issues are more discoverable and cited more frequently.
  • Expansion of research network: Special Issues facilitate connections among authors, fostering scientific collaborations.
  • External promotion: Articles in Special Issues are often promoted through the journal's social media, increasing their visibility.
  • e-Book format: Special Issues with more than 10 articles can be published as dedicated e-books, ensuring wide and rapid dissemination.
