MDPI Open Science Insights: Scientific Publishing Exchange with Nanyang Technological University School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, 22 April 2025


MDPI is pleased to welcome students from Nanyang Technological University’s School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) for an exclusive Academic Publishing Exchange session, hosted at our Singapore office. 

This in-person workshop is part of MDPI’s ongoing commitment to support early career researchers in navigating the academic publishing landscape with confidence. Attendees will gain insights into MDPI’s open access publishing model and better understand our editorial and peer-review processes. 

Participants will also receive practical guidance on writing and improving manuscript quality and managing the peer review process, delivered by MDPI editors and publishing professionals.

We look forward to having a meaningful exchange of ideas and supporting students in their publishing journeys!

Ms. Jelena Ličinar

Ms. Jelena Ličinar graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Belgrade, with a master’s degree in food technology and is currently pursuing doctoral studies with a focus on beer fermentation.

She joined MDPI in 2021 as an Assistant Editor and progressed to Section Managing Editor and Section Team Leader in 2022. In 2023, she assumed the role of Journal Relations Specialist. In her current position, Jelena works closely with external editors, providing strategic support to facilitate their editorial responsibilities. She oversees editorial processes, manages relationships with academic editors, reviewers, and authors, and contributes to the promotion and visibility of journals. Additionally, she attends academic conferences to strengthen relationships with stakeholders and engages with scholars and researchers to foster collaboration with MDPI.

Dr. Wei Thye Lee
Institutional Partnerships
Manager, MDPI Singapore

Dr. Wei Thye Lee earned his Ph.D. from the National University of Singapore (NUS) with research on experimental therapeutics in pre-clinical models of neurodegenerative diseases. He has published in many Scopus- and Web of Science (WOS)-indexed journals throughout his academic career. With MDPI, he has served in many editorial roles such as Assistant Editor, Publishing Specialist, and Special Issue Editor. He is currently the Institutional Partnership Manager for MDPI, liaising with institutions in the Asia Pacific (APAC).
