Travel Award

Dear Colleagues,

As Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Fungi, I am pleased to announce the winner of the 2020 JoF Travel Award.

The highly competitive awards were granted to Paris Hamm, a Ph.D candidate working with Dr. Donald Natvig at the University of New Mexico, and Dr. Mark Gresnigt, Postdoctoral Fellow in Prof. Bernhard Hube’s research group in the Hans Knöll Institute in Jena, Germany. Paris Hamm is studying the ecology and evolution of fungal pathogens of small mammals with a particular interest in Coccidioides species. Dr. Mark Gresnigt’s research is exploring how Candida albicans, as a commensal organism, can sense and respond to components of the human immune system to adapt its pathogenicity.

The travel awards provide 800 Swiss Francs for each winner to attend a conference related to medical mycology in 2020. Many thanks to our judges and a hearty congratulations to our winners!

Best regards,

Editor-in-Chief
