Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Stannum (Sn), one of the most commonly used metal elements over the thousands of years, is an environmentally friendly, non‐toxic, antimicrobial, purified, fresh‐kept, and indispensable trace element in life systems and has been widely applied in people’s daily life and industrial applications. Stannum has not only been shown great practical application value, such as developing as tableware, food packaging foil, or corrosion protection membranes for food preservation, but also plays an essential role in the human body. In this capacity, it exerts an important influence on people’s physiological activities and the maintenance of human health. However, the potential biomedical application of stannum remains largely unexplored, a fact which is due to the absence of the appropriate and effective methods for fabricating Sn‐based biomaterials. Thus, converting stannum into stannum compounds with antitumor activity in the human thymus, inhibiting the growth of cancer cells, is a method worth exploring. Additionally, other specific elements may also be investigated for use in disease study. This Special Issue aims to provide a forum for a discussion of the recent developments and future prospects of stannum-based nanomaterials in cancer theranostics. Stannum-based nanomaterials have attracted extensive attention amongst academics and researchers specializing in storage hydrogen/energy, biomedicine, including in the fields of materials science, biomedical engineering, pharmaceutical science and related disciplines.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Materials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
