Travel Award

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the two winners of the 2019 Micromachines Travel Awards: Emre Kizilkan, Postdoctoral Scholar at Kiel University, Germany, and Kosuke Iwai, Postdoctoral Scholar at Sandia National Laboratories/Joint BioEnergy Institute, California, USA. The awards consist of 800 Swiss Francs each to attend any academic conference in the second half of 2019 or first half of 2020.

  • Dr. Emre Kizilkan’s research involves photoresponsive polymers, bioinspired adhesives, and surface microstructuring. He will present his research “Photocontrollable Adhesion: A Bioinspired Microstructured Transport Device” at the “International Conference on Materials Science and Engineering, 16–18 September 2019, in Melbourne, Australia.
  • Dr. Kosuke Iwai’s research involves droplet microfluidics, CRISPR-based gene-editing, and synthetic biology. He will present his research “A Versatile and Robust Droplet-Based Microfluidic Automation System for High-Throughput Optimization of Biosynthetic Pathways” at the 23rd International Conference on Miniaturized Systems for Chemistry and Life Sciences (μTAS 2019), 27–31 October 2019, in Basel, Switzerland.
