Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue on ‘Recent Advances in Cellulose-based Polymers and their Nanocomposites’ is devoted to the dissemination of high-quality original research articles or comprehensive reviews on cutting-edge developments in this interdisciplinary field. Recently, cellulose-based materials have received a great deal of attention and have become a hot topic. Various types of cellulose-based polymers and their nanocomposites have been developed for various application areas in order to improve their efficiency and their eco-friendliness. The increasing interest in these cellulose-based polymers and their composites might be due to their functional properties, which include, but are not limited to, their recyclability, their ease of processing, excellent property-to-host functional materials, abundance, and biocompatibility. These novel properties make them of great interest in various areas of research. Thus, works that are relevant to the preparation and application of cellulose-based polymers and their nanocomposites that possess depth in their understanding, as well as research that can open a door for both real application and academic study, are highly welcomed. This Special Issue special warmly welcomes both original papers and review articles. Research works that place emphasis on recent advances in cellulose-based polymers and their nanocomposites and that cover all aspects of the area are also very welcome in this Special Issue. The topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following: electric stimuli-responsive devices; water evaporation and photothermal conversion; antibacterial properties; energy harvesting and storage; photocatalytic; magnetic; optical; electrical and thermal conductivity/insulation; oil–water separation; phase change; pyroelectric/thermoelectric; photothermal conversion; sensing and actuation; self-cleaning; shape memory; self-healing; sewage treatment; and waste treatment; smart window coating and high memory devices.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Molecules is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
