Nursing Care for Older People
A section of Nursing Reports (ISSN 2039-4403).
Section Information
Nursing care for older adults is a critical and evolving area of healthcare, given the rapid growth of the aging population worldwide. This field requires advanced clinical knowledge, compassionate care, and a comprehensive understanding of the complex physiological, psychological, and social dimensions of aging. Nursing for older adults focuses on promoting health, preserving independence, and enhancing the quality of life for older adults and their caregivers across various care settings.
As the complexities of aging-related health issues expand, nursing care for older adults has evolved into a multidisciplinary domain that integrates innovative practices and evidence-based interventions. It prioritizes person-centered approaches to address the extensive needs of this population, including chronic disease management, mental health, functional well-being, and end-of-life care.
This section aims to advance the science and practice of nursing care for older adults by publishing studies that address current and pressing challenges, introduce innovative strategies, and highlight the relevance of nursing core principles such as compassion, therapeutic relationships, and humanization in elder care. Contributions to this section are expected to deepen the understanding of geriatric nursing, support the implementation of evidence-based practices, and promote strategies that ensure the well-being of older adults and their caregivers.
We particularly encourage the submission of high-quality original research, reviews, and mixed-methods studies. Contributions may include quantitative, qualitative, or theoretical work that aims to enhance and transform nursing practices for older adults.
