I have been collaborating with journal Photonics in the course of the last five years. In particular, together with Professor Dmitry Skryabin I was a co-editor of special issue of Photonics on the topic of "Optical Solitons: Current Status". This project was quite successful, for a relatively new journal in the area where a very large number of well-established competing journals already existed. The special issue included five original articles and three reviews. In particular, I had contributed a review article to the special issue: B. A. Malomed, Optical solitons and vortices in fractional media: A mini-review of recent results, Photonics 8, 353 (2021), Currently, it has garnered 98 citations. The journal provided very efficient support after the submission of the article. Since than, I keep working for Photonics as an editorial board member – in particular, handling, as an editor, a considerable number of submissions. I believe the journal has been doing a good job in its area, publishing a large number of high-quality original papers and reviews. In particular, its current impact factor = 2.1, although not being very high, is decent for the journal in its category. The successful operation of the journal is supported by the efficient work of staff members at the journal's office.
