Dear Colleagues,
Polyelectrolytes are ionizable polymers. They can be strong as well as weak electrolytes and at the same time their properties resemble those of polymers. Thus, these special types of polymers show both the properties of electrolytes and polymers and have found widespread applications from energy to biology. The presence of various functional groups, often attached as pendent to the backbone or to the side chains of the polymers, has made them unique macromolecules to influence different types of interactions including H-bonding, electrostatic, and hydrophobic interactions, etc. Exploiting these properties, such polymers have been increasingly employed in energy as well as biology. The possibility of an electronically delocalized backbone of conjugated polyelectrolytes has made them highly desirable materials for energy conversion, energy storage, bioelectronics, and many more. Recently, there has been a great surge of interest in using these unique materials in a variety of sectors and hence it is high time they were collected to summarize their applications and significance. The availability and ease of adapting their design to host biocompatible as well as biodegradable properties have made these molecules eve more popular.
This Special Issue is devoted to collecting the ongoing works in which polyelectrolytes have contributed significantly to the two sectors of energy and bio-applications. Original research articles, review papers, short surveys, and perspectives representing significant contributions to these fields are welcomed. Special attention will also be paid to articles considering sustainable green approaches.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Polymers is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
